Blue Devils Split on Day Two

Blue Devils Split on Day Two

With one out in the top of the 7th and the game all tied at 3, sophomore centerfielder, Lucas Norton would put KCKCC on top for good.  "I was just trying to give us a baserunner to start the inning.  I got a fastball that was up and I just wanted to hit it hard.  It happened to leave the yard," said Luke about his first homerun this season.  Norton was 2 for 3 on the day as he doubled to lead off the game and scored two batters later on Christian Arnold's RBI single.

Although KCK jumped out ahead, they would surrender the lead in the second on an error that allowed two Thunder Ducks to score.  Freshman right hander, Geoffrey Birkemeier was strong for the Blue Devils.  He earned the complete game victory while giving up just one earned run and fanning 3.  2 Blue Devil errors made the game interesting but Birkemeier sat the Ducks down in order in the bottom half of the 7th to seal the deal.
