PARSONS, Kan. - After a strong start in the first quarter, the Kansas City Kansas Community College women's basketball team struggled in the later part of the first half and would fall 65-48 to Labette Community College on the road.
The Blue Devils fall to 12-9 overall and 4-4 in the KJCCC.
KCKCC would outscore the Cardinals 15-8 in the first quarter, but a slow start to the second period would make the difference. Labette posted 26 points to the Blue Devils's nine and led 34-24 at halftime.
The Blue Devils would score 10 points in the third quarter and 14 points in the fourth quarter. But two straight double-digit periods in the second half for the Cardinals ultimately led them to the win.
De'Jaria Guillroy led the team with a season-high 22 points and Ikia Elam had 13. Guillroy and Jennifer Guilbeaux each had a team leading four rebounds.
KCKCC is back in action on Wednesday when they host Hesston College inside the KCKCC Fieldhouse at 5:30 p.m.
