KCKCC Mourns the Loss of Blue Devil Athlete Mikequese Taylor

Kansas City Kansas Community College is saddened by the death of Blue Devil student-athlete Mikequese Taylor. From Peoria, Illinois, Taylor was a first-year student at KCKCC. He lived in student housing at the college, pursued a liberal arts major, and played for the Blue Devil Men's Basketball Team. He was in the process of completing the Spring 2024 semester and had already enrolled for the Fall 2024 semester.

"Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of our beloved brother, teammate, and friend, Mikequese." said Brandon Burgette, Head Men's Basketball Coach. "His competitive spirit, contagious laugh and sense of humor will be deeply missed. He was a true teammate we could always count on every day. His presence will forever be felt within our organization. Rest in peace."

Taylor was successful in the classroom and on the court. During his first season, Taylor played 31 games and served in a significant role in the team's success. The Blue Devils finished the basketball season 22-10 and won the 2023-2024 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division II Regular Season Championship.

KCKCC extends our deepest condolences to Taylor's family and friends during this difficult time, and we appreciate the time we shared with Mikequese Taylor.
