Willis Allen Named Interim Head Coach for KCKCC Women’s Basketball

Kansas City Kansas Community College announces that Willis Allen has been appointed Interim Head Coach of the Blue Devil women's basketball program as of  Dec. 4. Allen steps into the role after serving as the program's assistant coach since joining the staff in June 2023.

During his time at KCKCC, Allen has played an essential role in the development of the women's basketball program. His steady presence, strong connection with student-athletes, and commitment to fostering a competitive and supportive environment have helped shape the team's identity over the past two seasons. Allen's leadership style and attention to detail have made him a trusted figure within the program and the athletic department.

Before arriving at KCKCC, Allen spent two years at the University of Saint Mary (KS) as a graduate assistant from 2021 to 2023. His coaching path began at Queens University of Charlotte, where he attended from 2017 to 2021. Originally joining the program as a practice player in 2017, he transitioned into a student assistant role during his senior year, gaining early hands-on experience in player development, scouting, and program operations.

Allen is a native of Durham, N.C., and a 2017 graduate of Hillside High School, where he competed on the basketball team and built the foundation for his future in coaching.

As he steps into this interim role, Allen brings familiarity, continuity, and a deep understanding of the program he has helped cultivate. His appointment provides a stable path forward for the Blue Devils as they continue their 2025–26 season.
