It is said Nancy Allen came along too soon.  A city tennis and bowling  champion before she even graduated from Wyandotte High School, Allen did not have a chance to play at the high school level because no competitive sports for girls were offered. But her arrival at KCKCC was at the right time. Hired in October of 1975 just a week before the start of the volleyball season, Allen founded the Blue Devil volleyball, basketball and track programs and then coached the softball team to its greatest success. Without scholarships and little budget, she had just six players her first season and one set of uniforms were used for all three sports. By her third season, however, the volleyball team was 13-4 and 62-30 over the next three years. KCKCC’s second softball coach in 1980, Allen took KCKCC to the first women’s national tournament in history, finishing seventh.
