A graduate of Bishop Ward, David Segui re-wrote the Blue Devil record book by hitting .421 with 21 home runs in 1985 and .454 with 23 home runs in 1986. After a year at Louisiana Tech where he batted .405 with 19 homers, Segui was drafted in the 18th round by the Baltimore Orioles. He reached the majors in 1990 and played with seven teams, Baltimore, New York Mets and Montreal Expos twice each and Seattle, Toronto, Cleveland and Texas. In 14 major league seasons, he batted .291 with 139 home runs and 684 RBI in 1,456 games. He also recorded a .995 fielding average that still ranks among baseball’s all-time best for first basemen.
