KCKCC Women Stay Hot from Deep in 75-65 Win Over North Arkansas

The Kansas City Kansas Community College women's basketball team defeated North Arkansas College, 75-65, behind 13 three-pointers and a 15-point third-quarter lead Nov. 11. The Blue Devils capitalized on their perimeter shooting, converting 13 of 30 attempts for a 43.3% success rate, while also forcing 19 turnovers that led to 14 points. North Arkansas made a late push with 20 points in the fourth quarter, but KCKCC's bench contributed 36 points to help secure the win.

The Blue Devils opened with a strong defensive effort, highlighted by three steals that kept them close early. Kyara Bakker provided a spark from beyond the arc, hitting three three-pointers in the opening quarter, including one at 4:30 assisted by Yaslyn Gonzales. Saran Camara capped the period with a go-ahead three-pointer at 1:25, assisted by Presley Simpson, as KCKCC ended the quarter leading 20-19.

KCKCC surged ahead in the second quarter with a decisive 16-7 run led by Camara's outside shooting. The Blue Devils controlled the boards and outscored the Pioneers 20-11 in the frame. Bakker's layup and Camara's timely shooting extended the lead to double digits, and KCKCC carried a 40-30 advantage into halftime.

The Blue Devils continued their strong play in the third quarter, stretching their lead to 15 points. Camara's three-pointer at 3:30 made it 54-39, while Alana Webb added a block and rebound earlier in the period to set the tone defensively. Kylee West and Sandra Hracka helped sustain momentum through free throws and rebounding, giving KCKCC a 59-45 lead heading into the final quarter.

KCKCC maintained control in the fourth, building on an early 14-point lead following Webb's layup at 7:12. Despite a late push from the Pioneers, Gonzales' layup and free throw at 3:21 extended the margin back to 10. The Blue Devils managed the clock effectively and dominated the glass to limit scoring opportunities, closing out the 75-65 victory.

Camara led all scorers with 26 points, including seven three-pointers, and added four rebounds. Bakker followed with 16 points, a team-high seven rebounds, and three made three pointers. Webb filled the stat sheet with seven points, six rebounds, six assists, and two steals, while Elin Bjarnadottir contributed nine points on three three-pointers.

The next game for the Lady Blue Devils is against MCC at 6 p.m. Nov. 14 at Breidenthal Court for the KCKCC Hall of Fame Classic.
