The Kansas City Kansas Community College women's basketball team fell to Highland Community College, 73-67, at Ben Allen Field House on Saturday. KCKCC narrowed the gap with a strong second quarter, scoring 27 points, but Highland maintained control with a dominant 22-point third quarter. The Blue Devils recorded 15 assists and 7 steals, while Highland collected 43 rebounds and scored 36 points in the paint. 

The opening quarter saw KCKCC start with Alana Webb's jumper at 9:09 to match the Scottie's early scoring. Despite tying the game four times, KCKCC struggled to build a significant lead, with Kylee West contributing her first 3-pointer of the season at 5:07 to keep the Blue Devils offense competitive. Highland, however, maintained a slight advantage, capitalizing on second-chance opportunities to finish the quarter ahead 24-14. 

KCKCC made significant strides in the second quarter, cutting into Highland's lead with a series of key plays. The quarter was highlighted by Kyara Bakker's fast-break layup at 9:37 and a clutch 3-pointer by Meg Revol at 4:32, bringing the score closer. Alana Webb's defensive prowess was evident with two steals, while her four successful free throws in the final minutes gave the Blue Devils a slim advantage. The quarter concluded with KCKCC leading 41-39. 

KCKCC saw early momentum in the third quarter with Meg Revol's fast-break layup at 9:10, taking a 43-39 lead. However, Highland responded, tying the game and then overtaking the Blue Devils with a scoring run that included two three-pointers from Brittany Jones. Despite efforts from Amiyah Fulton and West, who each made key baskets. The quarter ended with KCKCC trailing 61-53. 

The Blue Devils made a late push in the fourth quarter, narrowing the gap with a fast-break jumper by West at 7:48, followed by a pair of free throws from Presley Simpson at 4:13, bringing the score to 60-63. Webb contributed significantly with a layup at 1:11 to keep the visitors within reach. Despite a three-pointer by Meg Revol with 15 seconds remaining, the Blue Devils fell 73-67 on the road. 

West led the scoring with 19 points, making 8-10 field goals and converting 1-1 from beyond the arc. Revol contributed 11 points, hitting 3-7 three-pointers and collecting six rebounds. Webb added 10 points, recorded three steals, and secured eight rebounds. Fulton scored eight points and distributed four assists. 

The next game for the Blue Devils is against the North Central Missouri College Pirates at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 18 at Breidenthal Court in the KCKCC Fieldhouse.
