KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The KCKCC women's soccer team fell in their final home match of the season to Coffeyville CC 2-1 Wednesday night.
The Blue Devils are now 5-7-2 overall and 4-7-1 in the KJCCC. It was also Sophomore Night where three sophomores were honored at halftime of the match in Kennia Acuna-Soto, Kate Erpelding and Kayleigh Sumler.
KCKCC got on the board first with a goal in the 16th minute when Mia Hurt put the ball into the net off an assist from Viola Bischoff. Coffeyville then tied the game six minutes later on a high header shot attempt by Veronica Calixto.
With the score tied 1-1 at halftime, both teams would search for scoring opportunities early in the second half. The Ravens succeeded on their attempt 20 minutes into the period to grab a 2-1 lead. KCKCC managed some offensive opportunities in the final minutes, but Coffeyville was able to stop them.
Bischoff, Hurt and Jordan Bedard led the team with three total shots. Karli Angle made five saves in goal.
The Blue Devils finish the regular season on Saturday when they travel to No. 5 Butler CC at 6 p.m.
