The No.10 Kansas City Kansas College Blue Devil women's soccer team edged out Pratt Community College with a 5-4 victory Sept.10 in Pratt marking their second consecutive win. Initially, however, the game seemed to be slipping away as KCKCC was down 3-0 at the 28th minute. Despite this early setback, the Blue Devils took a commanding lead later in the first half, scoring three goals, while Pratt Community College responded with four of their own.
KCKCC found themselves trailing 4-3 at halftime, but the Beavers were unable to score in the second half and KCKCC secured the win by scoring twice after the break. The teams combined for a total of 39 shots, with the Blue Devils responsible for 26 of the attempts, 11 of which were on target.
Elissa Green led KCKCC with a remarkable performance, netting three goals on seven shots, including the game-winner. This feat follows her two-goal performance in the previous game against the Southeast Bobcats Sept. 6. The KJCCC Week 3 DII Women's Soccer Player of the Week, Bayli Benson, contributed with one goal and five shots, two of which were on target. Dani Willeford added an assist and managed two shots, with one on goal. Goalkeeper Lena Wasow recorded five saves while allowing four goals in 90 minutes of play.
The next game for the Blue Devils women's soccer team is against the Central Community College-Columbus Raiders at 2 p.m. Sep. 13 at the KCKCC soccer field.
