The No.12 Kansas City Kansas Community College women's soccer team defeated Highland Community College 1-0 Oct.15. KCKCC controlled the match with 34 shots, seven of which were on target. The Blue Devils secured the win with a goal in the first half and maintained a shutout, allowing only two shots from the Scotties. The victory also secured second place for the Blue Devils in the KJCCC. With that, they will host the opening round of the D2 KJCCC Women's Soccer Playoffs Oct. 30.
Madi Logan headed in the game-winning goal with her only shot on target. Daya Lou Homey provided an assist and led the team with six shots, two of which were on goal. The goal was scored from a corner kick with just 19 seconds remaining in the first half. Lena Wasow recorded a shutout, making one save in her 90 minutes as goalkeeper. Bayli Benson added pressure with four shots, one of which was on goal.
The next game for the Blue Devils is against the Neosho County Community College Panthers at 1 p.m. Oct. 18 in Chanute, Kan.
