BALDWIN, Kan. - The KJCCC office announced the conference DII volleyball players of the week and KCKCC volleyball defensive specialist Emma Ayers was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week. Ayers was selected among a panel of conference sports information directors.
Ayers helped the Blue Devils to four straight wins last week, including three sweeps over Labette CC, Hesston College and Ottawa University JV while averaging 5.76 digs per set. In the team's match against North Platte CC the Lenexa, Kan. native posted a career-high 25 digs to lead the squad. Heading into Wednesday's home tri-match, Ayers was up to 276 digs on the season.
Throughout the week, the team surrendered just one set outscoring their opponent 12 sets to 1.
The Blue Devils are now 16-4 overall and 3-2 in the KJCCC on the season. Their next match is Oct. 5 on the road at Fort Scott CC.
