GARNER's SIX 3-POINTERS NOT ENOUGH IN 60-52 KCKCC LOSS

A spectacular 3-point shooting performance by freshman Willis Garner wasn't enough to overcome 13 Southeast Nebraska 3-point goals in Kansas City Kansas Community College's 60-52 loss Monday night.

A 5-10 guard from J.C. Harmon, Garner hit 6-of-8 3-point shots – all in the second half – to finish with a career high 18 points as the Blue Devils outscored the Storm 41-19 in the second half.

It was not enough, however, to offset the long range shooting of Southeast, which had five 3-points in the first five minutes en route to a 17-3 lead. Playing their first home game since Nov 19, the Blue Devils were just 5-of-26 for 19.2 percent in trailing 31-11 at the half. The Blue Devils were 11-of-25 the second half and committed just three turnovers in the second half comeback.

Anthony Ridley added eight points, seven rebounds and seven assists for KCKCC while Lucas Smith had nine points and five rebounds, Clay Young six points and seven rebounds and newcomer Robert Armstrong five points and five rebounds.

The loss left the Blue Devils at 5-11 heading to Allen County for an 8 p.m. game Saturday. Both KCKCC teams are back home next Monday against Wentworth at 5 and 7 p.m.   .
