BLUE DEVILS CAN'T OVERCOME SLOW START IN LOSS AT ALLEN

Slow starts continue to plague Kansas City Kansas Community College's injury plagued men's basketball team.

Hitting just 6-of-25 first half shots for 24 percent, the Blue Devils couldn't overcome a 31-22 halftime deficit in a 72-60 loss at Allen County Saturday night.

It wasn't without a valiant try, however, as the Blue Devils were 14-of-26 for 53.8 percent in a 38-point second half only to have Allen hit 15-of-28 for 53.6 percent and finish the game at 48 percent.

More than half of KCKCC's scoring came from the perimeter as six Blue Devils combined for 11 three-point goals including 7-of-14 the second half. KCKCC had just 10 turnovers but was outrebounded by the taller Red Devils 41-30.

Lucas Smith led with 14 points and six rebounds while Clay Young added 13 points, Collin Adney 9 and Anthony Ridley 8. Ridley also has five rebounds and five assists. The loss left the Blue Devils at 5-12.
