The Kansas City Kansas Community College volleyball team, ranked No. 7 in the NJCAA DII Women's Volleyball Rankings, triumphed over the No. 2 Cowley College Tigers in a five-set battle, 26-28, 25-19, 19-25, 25-15, 15-11, Oct. 22. The Blue Devils recorded 19 service aces, contributing significantly to their victory. This win was especially notable as Cowley, having won the NJCAA DII Women's Volleyball National Championship for the past two years with undefeated seasons, faced a rare defeat on their home floor. The Tigers had not lost at home since October 2022. Despite the Tigers' 61 kills, the Blue Devils' strong defensive efforts, including 60 digs, proved decisive in securing the win.
Tatianna Murray contributed significantly with 10 kills and four service aces, while also adding five total blocks. Valentina Rolando led the team with 17 kills, complementing her performance with nine digs. Veronica Rolando provided key support with 29 assists and five service aces. Ava Rann anchored the defense, recording 18 digs over the course of the matches.
The Blue Devil volleyball team will now fight for the conference title Oct.29 at Breidenthal Court as they host the Highland Scotties. KCKCC has not won the KJCCC regular season title since 2000.
