Martensen Shines in Relief as Blue Devils Advance in Plains District Tournament

The three seeded Blue Devil baseball team secured a decisive 10–2 victory over Butler Community College in the first round of the 2026 DI Baseball Plains District Tournament at Eck Stadium on Wednesday. KCKCC amassed 12 hits, including two home runs, while its pitching staff allowed only three hits and struck out eight batters.

Camden Brashear pitched 2.1 innings, allowing three hits and one earned run while issuing five walks and striking out two batters. He threw 54 pitches, with half of them being strikes. In relief, Nick Martensen delivered a strong performance over 4.2 innings, striking out six and walking only one, securing the win with 40 strikes out of 65 pitches. Martensen's effective outing helped maintain the lead for the Blue Devils.

Ian Woita recorded a home run and collected three RBIs, contributing significantly to the scoring. Brady Kern crossed the plate three times and added two stolen bases to his performance. Owen Musil also hit a home run, driving in two runs and scoring twice.

With the win, the Blue Devils will face 10-seeded Barton Community College at 4 p.m. on Thursday for the second round.
