The three-seeded Kansas City Kansas Community College baseball team secured a 4-3 victory over the fifth-seeded Cowley College Tigers in a tense extra-inning matchup at Eck Stadium. KCKCC scored two decisive runs in the 10th inning to clinch the win with an Owen Musil line drive to the third baseman. The Tiger third baseman ended up bobbling it and both Blue Devil runners scored from second and third base for the win.
Donovan Johnson delivered a strong performance for KCKCC, pitching 6.1 innings and allowing only one earned run on one hit. He struck out six batters while issuing five walks and threw 100 pitches, 55 of which were strikes. Caden Howell faced challenges in his brief appearance, giving up a home run and a walk without recording an out. Camden Brashear closed out the game by pitching 3.2 innings, conceding one earned run on six hits, and secured the win to improve his personal record to 5-2.
Musil led the offensive charge with three hits and two RBIs, scoring twice. Trevor McGraw contributed with a double among his two hits and recorded one RBI. Sawyer Tolk and Reid Oakley both recorded two hits and Tolk scored one run in the bottom of the 10th inning.
The Blue Devils advance to the Plains District Championship game and will face the winner of the matchup between top-seeded Johnson County Community College and fifth-seeded Cowley College. Due to the double-elimination format, KCKCC would need to lose twice in order to be eliminated, while a win in the next matchup would secure the 2026 Plains District Championship for the Blue Devils.
