Blue Devils Fall Short in Plains District Championship

The three-seeded Kansas City Kansas Community College Baseball team suffered a 9–2 defeat against the one-seeded Johnson County Community College Cavaliers on Sunday at Eck Stadium in the 2026 NJCAA Plains District Tournament Championship game. Despite the loss, KCKCC managed a solo home run, while the Cavaliers capitalized with five home runs in their victory.

Will Kennedy pitched 5.0 innings, allowing eight earned runs on 11 hits, including four home runs, while striking out five and walking one. He threw 103 pitches with 67 strikes and took the loss in an 8-3 record. Camden Brashear followed with 1.2 innings, conceding one earned run on four hits and a home run, adding two strikeouts to his line. Carter Beach closed with 1.1 innings, giving up no runs or hits, walking one, and striking out one.

Trevor McGraw led the Blue Devils with a home run, driving in one run and scoring once. Colton Kirkham contributed by securing two hits and scoring a run. Reid Oakley posted two hits and recorded one RBI, enhancing the team's offense further.

The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference announced the All-Tournament team after the conclusion of the final game. There were four Blue Devils named to the team. Ian Woita, Owen Musil, Donovan Johnson and Camden Brashear.

The Blue Devils finished with an overall record of 43-20 and exceeded all expectations in the 2026 season.
