OJ Mendez joined the Kansas City Kansas Community College baseball coaching staff in 2023. A talented left-handed pitcher and proud native of Carolina, Puerto Rico, Mendez had a standout collegiate career. He began at Wabash Valley College (2017–18), then pitched for KCKCC (2018–20), where in 2019 he earned All‑KJCCC Second Team honors and was named a Region VI Baseball Gold Glove recipient. He finished at Alabama State University (2020–23), contributing significantly to the Hornets’ 2022 SWAC Tournament Championship—notably delivering two scoreless innings in relief during the dramatic 14‑inning final. Mendez brings a deep competitive edge and regional acclaim to his coaching role, helping shape the next generation of Blue Devil pitchers.
