No.22 Blue Devil Men's Basketball Sneaks By in Season Opener

The Kansas City Kansas Community College men's basketball team narrowly defeated Florida State College at Jacksonville 64-61 Oct. 31. KCKCC was led by a strong shooting performance, converting 60 percent from the field. Despite committing 18 turnovers, the team capitalized on their free throw opportunities, going 18-for-24. The win was secured in a tense final stretch, as the Manta Rays, who shot only 33.3 percent from the field, fell short despite a late push.

Anthony Leonard scored 15 points and recorded four steals, contributing significantly on both ends of the court. Ta'Veaion Washington collected 12 rebounds and added eight points, dominating the glass. Jameson Fischer posted 14 points and distributed six assists, facilitating the offense effectively. Rieal Acin finished with 11 points, converting two of three from beyond the arc.

The next game for the Blue Devils is against Western Iowa Tech at 7 p.m. Nov. 6 at Breidenthal Court in the KCKCC Fieldhouse.
