Blue Devils Struggle Offensively in Home Loss to North Arkansas

The Kansas City Kansas Community College men's basketball team fell to North Arkansas College 84-54 Nov. 11 at Breidenthal Court. The Pioneers pulled away late, building a 33-point lead in the second half — their largest of the night. The Blue Devils forced 11 steals but struggled offensively, shooting just 28.4 percent from the field. North Arkansas capitalized, converting 52.5 percent of its attempts and scoring 40 points in the paint.

KCKCC opened strong with a quick three-pointer by Anthony Leonard and a layup from Ta'Veaion Washington, assisted by Jameson Fischer, to take an early 5–2 lead. The Pioneers responded with a 13-point advantage by the 5:09 mark, but the Blue Devils battled back behind another Leonard three to cut the deficit to 36–28 at halftime.

Tiemeyer opened the second half with a three-pointer to narrow the gap, but the Blue Devils continued to struggle from the field, hitting just 10 of 39 attempts. North Arkansas maintained control with efficient shooting and fast-break opportunities, steadily extending its lead.

Leonard led KCKCC with 17 points, including three triples, while Washington added 12 points and two steals. Fischer tallied five assists and three rebounds, and Darren McHenry contributed four steals and four points. The Blue Devils also collected 21 rebounds, 12 of which came on the offensive glass.

The next game for the Blue Devils is against MCC at 8 p.m. Nov. 14 at Breidenthal Court for the KCKCC Hall of Fame Classic.
