The Kansas City Kansas Community College men's basketball team narrowly defeated Western Iowa Tech 57-55 Dec. 8. The Blue Devils secured the win with a strong second half, outscoring the Comets 31-27 after trailing by two points at halftime. KCKCC capitalized on free throws, shooting 71.4% from the line, while Western Iowa Tech managed only 52.9%.
Anthony Leonard scored 10 points, converting four of his 12 field goal attempts and managed to score the game winning basket with just 2.5 seconds remaining in the game. Matthew Williams contributed 15 points, including two 3-pointers, and collected five rebounds. Malik Lewis added nine points and recorded two steals. Kamoni Ford posted seven points and grabbed eight rebounds.
The next game for the Blue Devils is against the Avila JV team at 7 p.m. Dec. 11 at Breidenthal Court in the KCKCC Fieldhouse.
