Men’s Basketball Routs Tigers

The Kansas City Kansas Community College men's basketball team put together a complete performance Monday night at Breidenthal Court, rolling past Marshalltown Community College 79–57 and improving to 10–7 on the season. The Blue Devils set the tone early with efficient shooting and aggressive defense, building a 39–21 halftime lead and stretching the margin to as many as 25 points in the second half.

KCKCC opened the game with confidence, as Kamoni Ford knocked down a three-pointer just 50 seconds in to spark the offense. Malik Lewis followed with consistent scoring throughout the first half, including a jumper and a late three-pointer, while the Blue Devils capitalized on Marshalltown turnovers, forcing 10 in the opening half. Ferdinand Agama punctuated the stretch with a dunk at the 1:28 mark, capping an 18-point advantage as KCKCC controlled the glass and limited second-chance opportunities. The Blue Devils closed the half shooting efficiently and leading 39–21.

The home team maintained its momentum after the break, quickly extending the lead behind another three from Ford at the 16:41 mark. KCKCC continued to attack from both inside and beyond the arc, pushing the advantage to 70–45 midway through the half following a three-pointer by Rieal Acin. Marshalltown made brief scoring runs behind Antoine Glasper, but the Blue Devils' balanced offense and defensive pressure prevented any sustained comeback. A late layup by Acin sealed the 79–57 victory.

Ford led the way with a double-double, finishing with 15 points and 10 rebounds while knocking down three three-pointers. Lewis matched him with 15 points on an efficient 6-of-8 shooting and added four assists. Ta'Veaion Washington chipped in eight points, seven rebounds, and three assists, while Anthony Leonard contributed six points and two steals as the Blue Devils secured a decisive home win.

The next game for the Blue Devils is against the Kansas Christian College JV team at 7 p.m. Jan. 7 at Breidenthal Court in the KCKCC Fieldhouse.
