The Kansas City Kansas Community College men's basketball team fell to Allen Community College, 79-71 Saturday. The Blue Devils held a narrow 38-36 lead at halftime but were unable to maintain their advantage as the Red Devils outscored them 43-33 in the second half. Despite the loss, KCKCC connected on 19-27 free throws, while the Red Devils shot 50 percent from the field and made 10-20 attempts from beyond the arc.
Ta'Veaion Washington led the team with 20 points, converting 6-14 field goals and all six free throw attempts while adding seven rebounds. Anthony Leonard contributed 15 points, making 5-11 shots from the field and 5-9 from the free-throw line, along with three assists. Darren McHenry scored 10 points, hitting 4-6 field goal attempts and collecting four defensive rebounds.
The next game for the Blue Devils is against the No. 3 Johnson County Community College Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 11 at Breidenthal Court in the KCKCC Fieldhouse.
