KCKCC overcame a 10-point first-half deficit, surging ahead in the second half with a 52-point performance. The Blue Devils capitalized on free throws, converting 26-31 attempts, to edge out Fort Scott in a tense finish.
KCKCC opened the game with a strong start, taking an early 2–0 lead with a layup by Darren McHenry at 18:40. However, the team faced challenges as Fort Scott responded and took control, eventually leading by 10 points with 45 seconds left in the half. The Blue Devils managed to cut the deficit slightly with a late jumper by Andrew Tiemeyer, ending the first half trailing 33–25.
KCKCC made a significant comeback in the second half, overcoming the Greyhounds' early 10-point lead. Key to the rally was Ta'Veaion Washington, who contributed multiple points, including a crucial 3-pointer at 9:48 that gave KCKCC its first lead of the half. The Blue Devils capitalized on its free-throw opportunities, with Washington making decisive free throws in the final minute to secure the win. The game concluded with KCKCC on top, defeating Fort Scott 77–74.
Washington led the effort with 32 points and added six rebounds. Tiemeyer contributed 15 points and secured eight rebounds. Leonard scored nine points, sinking three 3-pointers, while Malik Lewis finished with 10 points, making all four of his free throw attempts.
The next game for the Blue Devils is against the Neosho County Community College Panthers at 3:00 p.m. Feb. 28 at Breidenthal Court in the KCKCC Fieldhouse.
