OXFORD, Ala. - The No. 9 seeded KCKCC softball team was put in a tough position after their loss to No. 1 seed Des Moines Area CC earlier in the Tournament. On Saturday, the Blue Devils faced off against No. 5 seeded Northwest Mississippi CC and were unable to provide much offense, as they fell 11-0 in five innings.

KCKCC ends their season at 45-16 overall.

After a scoreless first inning between the two squads, Maya Sheldon hit a double in the second inning as the Blue Devils threatened for the first run of the game. Unfortunately, she would be left on base and Northwest Mississippi took advantage with a five-run second inning. The Blue Devils got a runner on base early in the third inning once again, but the offense sputtered as well as in the fourth inning. The Blue Devils faced an uphill battle as Northwest Mississippi would add another six runs in the fourth inning, clearing them of the run-rule. KCKCC was held scoreless in the fifth inning and Northwest Mississippi came out with the victory.

McKenna Lester and Sheldon provided the lone two hits for the team. Bradi Basler took the loss in the circle.

Some notable season stats for the year included: Mckenzie Ogden tying the program record for most career triples with 11 and Savannah Maynard setting the record for most career doubles with 47. Basler and Breanna Droge also combined for 44 wins and 334 strikeouts in the circle.

KCKCC will be back in action in the fall as they prep for the 2023 spring season.
