The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team faced off against St. Louis Community College in a doubleheader on Saturday, experiencing a rollercoaster of emotions. In the first game, KCKCC fell to St. Louis 12–9 in a closely contested matchup. Despite a strong offensive showing with 13 hits, including a home run, the Blue Devils were unable to overcome St. Louis's six-run fifth inning. The Blue Devils would turn around and win the second game with a 4-2 comeback win. 

In the first game, Rebecca Castillo pitched for 2.0 innings, allowing seven hits and five runs while issuing two walks. She faced 16 batters and finished with a WHIP of 4.50. Gabby Pemberton entered in relief, pitching 5.0 innings with nine hits and seven earned runs, striking out two batters and also walking two. Pemberton faced 26 batters, achieving a WHIP of 2.20 during her appearance. 

Offensively, Paige Smith delivered a strong performance, scoring two runs and driving in two RBIs, including a double, contributing significantly to the team's offense. Maddy Crawford showcased her power by hitting a home run and a double, collecting four RBIs and scoring once. Sidney Sullivan demonstrated her on-base skills, scoring twice and drawing two walks while also stealing a base. Brenli Baker added to the tally with one hit and one RBI, also reaching base after being hit by a pitch. 

In the second game, Makayla Ekis delivered a complete game performance, pitching 7.0 innings for KCKCC. She faced 28 batters, allowing seven hits and two earned runs, with her control evident through only one walk issued. Ekis maintained a WHIP of 1.14, demonstrating efficiency on the mound despite not recording any strikeouts. 

Crawford excelled in the second game as well, contributing with a double, one RBI, and a team-high five assists, posting an OPS of 1.667. Abryelle Hill added to the offensive effort with one hit and one RBI, ending with an OPS of .667. Marissa Temple also contributed to the scoring with one hit and one RBI, achieving an OPS of 1.167. 

The next series for the Blue Devils will be at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. March 31 against the Moberly Area Community College Greyhounds in Moberly, Mo.
