The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team faced a challenging doubleheader against Johnson County Community College, suffering a 6–4 defeat in the first game and a narrow 9–8 loss in the second. Despite a strong start in the opener with three runs in the first inning, KCKCC could not maintain the lead as Johnson County rallied with a decisive two-run eighth inning. In the second game, KCKCC mounted a six-run rally in the sixth but fell short against Johnson County's consistent scoring.
In the first game, Rebecca Castillo pitched 3.2 innings, allowing four earned runs on five hits, including one home run, while issuing two walks and recording no strikeouts. Gabby Pemberton took over in relief, pitching 4.1 innings and allowing two earned runs on four hits, also giving up one home run. Pemberton managed to strike out two batters and walked one during her appearance. The team conceded a total of six runs in the game.
Brenli Baker was a standout for KCKCC, recording two runs and adding a double. Kaitlyn Cowan contributed with two hits and two RBIs, driving in key runs. Sidney Sullivan tallied two hits and scored one run, effectively setting the pace early in the game. Abryelle Hill also provided crucial support with two hits and one RBI.
In the second game, Makayla Ekis started for KCKCC, pitching 1.1 innings and allowing four earned runs on four hits, including one home run, while striking out one batter. Alaina Mendez took over in relief, pitching 5.2 innings and giving up five earned runs on five hits, also surrendering one home run. Mendez issued four walks and struck out one batter during her time in the circle.
Baker again led the offense with three hits, including a double, and drove in two runs. Cowan continued to contribute with two RBIs, adding to the team's scoring effort. Paige Smith played a crucial role by scoring twice. Austyn Hartman supported the offense with two hits, a double, one RBI and also scored once. Despite their efforts across both games, KCKCC could not secure a win against the Cavaliers.
