Softball Stays Alive with Huge 6th Inning

The No.3 Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team secured a 7-5 victory over the No.5 Labette Community College at JCCC Softball Field, eliminating the Cardinals from the tournament. KCKCC capitalized with a four-run sixth inning, overcoming a mid-game rally by the Cardinals.

Alaina Mendez started in the circle for KCKCC, pitching 3.1 innings and allowing three earned runs on four hits. Mendez struggled with control, issuing five walks and hitting two batters, while throwing 90 pitches with 47 strikes. Gabby Pemberton entered in relief, throwing 3.2 innings and conceding two earned runs on two hits with two strikeouts. Pemberton demonstrated greater control, walking just one batter with 69 total pitches and 40 strikes.

Sidney Sullivan drove in three runs and stole a base, contributing significantly to the team's offensive efforts. Abryelle Hill crossed the plate twice and added an RBI, showcasing her ability to impact the game on the base paths. Marissa Temple recorded a double and added an RBI while also scoring once and stealing a base, highlighting her all-around performance. Pemberton secured the win for the team.
