No. 2 KCKCC Has Perfect Weekend at Breidenthal Court

The Kansas City Kansas Community College volleyball team, ranked No. 2 in the current NJCAA DII Volleyball Rankings, hosted its annual KCK Tournament at Breidenthal Court in the KCKCC Fieldhouse last weekend. There were seven other teams who participated in the tournament - Allen Community College, Cowley College, Iowa Central Community College, Labette Community College, Morton College, Park University JV and Southwestern Community College (Iowa). Besides KCKCC, only Cowley (1) and Iowa Central (9) are ranked.

In the first match, KCKCC swept No. 9 Iowa Central with scores of 25-19, 25-20, 25-16. The Blue Devils dominated with a .211 hitting percentage and recorded 10 service aces, while the Tritons struggled offensively, hitting just .010 with 23 errors.

Teagan Canady posted 10 kills on 15 attempts for a .667 hitting percentage. Valentina Rolando added 12 kills and two service aces, finishing with 14 total points. Briazia Osborne set the pace with 17 assists and 10 digs, while Emily Fierro chipped in three aces to cap off a strong serving performance.

In the second match, KCKCC swept Morton College 25-13, 25-17 and 25-18. The Panthers entered undefeated but suffered their first loss at the hands of a dominant Blue Devil performance. KCKCC tallied 35 kills compared to Morton's 17 and added 10 service aces, backed by a strong defensive effort with 41 digs and seven blocks.

Valentina Rolando recorded 10 kills on 19 attempts with 14 digs and two aces. Osborne added three aces, 10 assists and seven digs. Veronica Rolando handed out 20 assists with three digs, while Sanoma Hunter made her presence felt at the net with five blocks, two solo and six kills.

In the third match, KCKCC swept Park University JV 25-15, 25-16 and 25-12. The Blue Devils hit .312 with 10 service aces and added 45 digs and six blocks in a decisive win.

Tatianna Murray posted 10 kills on 16 attempts for a .562 hitting percentage and added a block assist. Trinaty Fansher contributed 10 kills with a .500 hitting percentage and two digs. Veronica Rolando dished out 19 assists and served three aces, while Valentina Rolando tallied 11 digs and four kills on a .400 hitting clip.

In the fourth and final match, KCKCC swept Southwestern 25-14, 25-17, 25-11. The Blue Devils closed the weekend with a .311 hitting percentage and 11 aces.

Fansher hit .500 with 10 kills on 16 attempts, while Rolando tallied eight kills and 11 digs. Veronica Rolando finished with 21 assists and three aces, and Hunter added five kills on a .444 percentage with three block assists.

The next match for the No. 2 KCKCC volleyball team is Sept. 24 as they head to Chanute, Kan. to take on fellow Top-20 conference foe, Neosho County Community College.
