Kansas City Kansas Community College had a mixed series of games this week, showcasing both dominant victories and tough losses.
In the first game, KCKCC overpowered Harper College with a decisive 21-0 victory on Thursday at Arsenal BG Ballpark. The Blue Devils hit six home runs in the game, contributing to the 19-hit performance.
Donovan Johnson delivered a strong performance on the mound, pitching four innings without allowing an earned run. He recorded seven strikeouts while giving up four hits and no walks, maintaining a WHIP of 1.00. His efforts secured a win, bringing his season record to 1-0. Kamp Cunningham provided relief, pitching one inning with two strikeouts, one walk, and no runs allowed, also achieving a WHIP of 1.00.
Lennox Vann excelled with three hits, including two home runs, and collected six RBIs. Owen Musil contributed four hits, scored three runs, and drove in three RBIs, adding a home run to his stats. Brady Kern had a productive outing, scoring two runs and recording two RBIs with a home run.
In the second game Thursday, KCKCC fell to Jefferson College 3-2. The Blue Devils managed two runs in the fourth inning and tallied four hits overall, but were unable to overcome an early three-run deficit.
Jefferson College took an early lead in the first inning, scoring one run to go ahead 1-0. In the second inning, the Vikings extended their lead with two more runs, bringing the score to 3-0 after two innings.
KCKCC responded in the fourth with Musil hitting a double and later scoring, followed by Vann's contribution with a hit and a run scored. The runs closed the gap to 3-2.
Dylan Blazer pitched four innings for KCKCC, striking out nine batters while allowing three runs, two walks and three hits. Blazer ended the game with a 1.25 WHIP and recorded one loss, bringing his season record to 1-1. Carter Beach came in as a reliever and pitched two innings, conceding just one hit and striking out three, achieving an impressive WHIP of 0.50.
Musil recorded one run and one double, achieving an OPS of 1.000 in his game. Vann contributed with one hit and one RBI while also scoring once and successfully stealing a base. In the third game, KCKCC secured a decisive 13-4 victory over Harper Friday. The team erupted for seven runs in the first inning, setting the tone for the game.
Ian Woita's solo home run and contributions from Kern and Vann, each with two RBIs, highlighted the inning. Harper managed one run, ending the inning with a score of 7-1 in favor of KCKCC.
In the second inning, KCKCC extended its lead with three more runs. Reid Oakley doubled, bringing in two runs, while Musil added another RBI. Harper added a run, bringing the score to 10-2.

In the final game Friday, KCKCC fell to Jefferson with a final score of 9-1. The Blue Devils' lone run came from a solo home run.
