The Kansas City Kansas Community College baseball team edged out Colby Community College with a 13–12 victory on Friday, powered by a decisive six-run rally in the ninth inning. The Blue Devils totaled 16 hits and four home runs in the high-scoring affair.
Donovan Johnson started on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings, allowing eight hits, one walk, and six earned runs, while striking out four batters. Nick Martensen came in relief, throwing one inning and giving up one hit and one walk, securing a win to improve his record to 3-2. Caden Howell closed the game with 4.2 innings, surrendering five hits and three earned runs, striking out six batters.
Ian Woita recorded three hits, including a home run, and drove in two runs. Owen Musil contributed with two home runs, tallying four RBIs in the process. Colton Kirkham added a home run as part of his three-hit performance, scoring three times. Sawyer Tolk scored twice and collected two hits, enhancing the team's offensive efforts.
With the series win, KCKCC advances to the 2026 NJCAA Plains District Baseball Tournament at Eck Stadium in Wichita, Kan., where they will open double-elimination bracket play against the No. 6 Butler Community College Grizzlies.
